Ernesto Bozzano represents a milestone in the history of Psychical Research in Italy. He was committed for more than fifty years in this field, collecting or organizing extensive documentary material, on the basis of which he wrote various, mostly monographic, works. These works raised great interest, such that they were translated in many languages. In the '20s he met Gastone De Boni, a young doctor from Verona. The acquaintance was decisive for both of them. Their relationship became so close that Ernesto Bozzano decided to appoint Gastone De Boni heir of his library. When Ernesto Bozzano died, Gastone De Boni was owner of a rich patrimony he preserved, enlarged and kept updated through the years. Gastone De Boni, then, resumed the publishing of Luce e Ombra, a magazine specialized in paranormal phenomenology, that had been suppressed in 1939 because of the second world war. Gastone De Boni was to make another important friendship, with Silvio Ravaldini, who became his able collaborator. During the final years of his life, Gastone De Boni concerned himself with finding permanent premises for the Library and with creating an organization that would pursue what he had commenced and continued in time. Thanks to Silvio Ravaldini's interest, the Biblioteca Bozzano-De Boni and the Archivio di Documentazione Storica della Ricerca Psichica were founded, both in Bologna. The Association acquired as supporters the subscribers of Luce e Ombra that therefore became the Association's official organ. Till 30th June 1999 the Archivio di Documentazione Storica della Ricerca Psichica run the Biblioteca Bozzano-De Boni together with the Fondazione Biblioteca Bozzano-De Boni (Bozzano-De Boni Library Foundation). On 1st July 1999 the Archivio is been merged with the Fondazione Biblioteca Bozzano - De Boni, because they had the same objects. In this way the Archivio's members converge into the Foundation and Luce e Ombra has become its official organ. |
